string sliced fingers

Jeremy Enigk (of Sunny Day Real Estate) is almost done with his second solo album. Return of the Frog Queen, his first, is on my top 10 list of favorite albums so I am greatly looking forward to comparing it to the new one. Also, he's going to tour for at least six months! I only saw SDRE once (in Pittsburgh during college) before they broke up -- and it was amazing.

Also, I won some contest to see David Bazan and the Undertow Orchestra in Chicago next Friday for free. Excellent: road trip.

I'm collecting interesting videos on YouTube. Send me some if you find anything worth watching.

boingboing mentioned a new sitcom on the BBC called "The IT Crowd" and I checked it out: hysterically funny. I highly recommend it for anyone who does anything technical or who is even tangentially associated with geek culture. I've seen the first three episodes and it retains a beautiful sense of the absurd.

Have I ever mentioned here that I heat a brick in my oven to keep my feet warm? Yeah, I totally do. And it's awesome. After riding around on my bike out in the cold (a look at the temp says 19o) you're damn right I do. I heat a regular red construction brick to 200o for 15 minutes, take it out, wrap it in a towel, and keep my feet on it while I'm on the computer or reading. At first I was reluctant to do it -- something about it seems so antiquated -- but after you do it once, you lose all reservations.

cold steely logic is useful
