New half marathon PR on Saturday - 1:55:15. Consequently, I ate a pint of ice cream on Saturday without remorse.
Has anyone read Haruki Murakami? I have an informal list of books I plan to read and a rough rank associated with each to determine which comes next. These ranks constantly fluctuate based on factors including recommendations from people whose judgment I trust, timeliness regarding world events, new information or perspective, et cetera. Well, Murakami has now been referenced enough times in my experience to reevaluate placement on my list. Has anyone read anything worthwhile of his and if so, which?

That's awesome! Many congrats on your great run. We'll really have to get half-marathoning at the same time some day soon.
And while I have not read Haruki Murakami (yet), I have had Kafka on the Shore on my list and my bookshelf for several years.
Hi Landon - Murakami is fantastic. Read The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. -Melanie
Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World is very good. I had higher hopes for Kafka on the Shore but it didn't seem to ever want to end and I wasn't sure what if anything to take away from it when I was done. I will get to Windup Bird Chronicle at some point as well.
On an unrelated note, I would highly recommend any of the following:

Ordered The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle from the library.
Watched a few videos some anonymous person recommended (name yourself, villain!) and laughed uproariously.
Glad you liked them. Alright I'll come clean... I used to live in the red house on North Main with Jenny Hoople, Laura Weiss and Stephanie Yamada... we used to call it the Tofu Palace. They call me Jon.
Hey Jon! Glad to hear you're still alive and kicking. Laura is well and says hello. There will be a Tofu-Palace reunion of sorts this month in Meadville - next weekend maybe?
Kelly Mack (married!) currently lives there, Jenny Hoople (married!) will be visiting from Wisconsin, and Laura Wies will be joining them. Last I heard, Stephanie was chaining herself to trees in the Pacific Northwest but that could just be a rumor.
Wow a Tofu Palace reunion... sounds tempting. I was actually just up in Meadville two weeks ago on a whim. Paco (Steve Harding) used to be in a jug band with Dan Walpole and some other folks and they were all getting together for Jess Roberts' birthday so I went up. Apparently I just missed Kelly Mack.
I will definitely be up in the ville the weekend of June 9th for the MS 150 ride, which stays one night at Allegheny. Tell everyone I said hi!
